NESCO junior engineer assaulted in Balasore

Bhograi: A Junior Engineer (JE) of the North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Limited (NESCO) was thrashed by some locals of Mahisamunda village under Bhograi block of Balasore district today.

Police who had gone to rescue of the JE also faced the wrath of the villagers.

As per sources, JE Madan Mohan Sahu had visited the village for inspection of power supply to an irrigation point. Enraged over lack of electricity, the villagers attacked the official.

The villagers have also set their cultivated field on fire as a mark of protest, added sources.

"They are staging demonstration but I don't know the reason behind it. A transformer was released day before yesterday which was put on charge yesterday and I had arrived to provide the connection today. Till date seven persons in the locality have paid their bills and electricity supply of three persons has been disconnected for non-payment. Those three persons may have perpetrated the attack," said JE Sahu.
