Bhubaneswar: Admission to various AYUSH (Under Graduate) courses will now be conducted through the National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test (NEET) instead of OJEE from the academic year 2018-19.

Odisha Health Department on Tuesday wrote a letter in this regard to the OJEE chairman and said admission into AYUSH UG courses shall be done compulsorily through NEET merit list from the 2018-19 academic session.

Besides, the department directed the OJEE authorities to cancel the examination for the BAMS and BHMS courses for the academic year 2018-19 for which it has already published advertisement.

The decision has been taken to standardise the admission procedure and attract meritorious students to AYUSH (ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homoeopathy) streams of medicine, the letter read.

Earlier in February last year, the Ministry of AYUSH had released an official notification to conduct admission on the basis of NEET but several states had objected the decision.
