Bhubaneswar: Chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) Rameswar Oraon will meet chief secretary AP Padhi here today and discuss the steps taken by the State government on the killing of five innocent people by security forces at Gumudumaha village in Kandhamal district on July 8.

Sources said rehabilitation and resettlement issue of families displaced by the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) will also figure during the discussion between the two.

Oraon is on a three-day visit to Odisha and will attend several programmes here, sources added.

On July 13, after visiting Gumudumaha village, Oraon had recommended to the State government an increase in the compensation amount offered to the kin of the deceased. Besides, he had asked the government to take stern action against the Special Operation Group (SOG) jawans for allegedly gunning down the innocent people during the anti-Maoist operation on July 8.
