Bhubaneswar: Higher Education minister Pradip Panigrahi today praised the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for its contribution in the fields of national unity, national integration and nurturing the youth to be responsible citizens of India.

Addressing the 68th NCC Day at BJB Autonomous College Ground here, he appreciated the skills demonstrated by NCC cadets in various fields and congratulated all prize winners. He complemented the NCC for instilling in cadets the critical skills and qualities such as leadership, discipline, commitment and responsibility.

Gracing the occasion as the guest of honour, Subroto Bagchi, chairman, Skill Development Authority and the first Best Cadet awardee of the State in year 1975, complemented NCC for its contribution in grooming the young mind to make them good citizen and ready to take challenges in life ahead.

Deputy Director General, NCC, Odisha, Commodore Lalit Kumar Agrawalla complemented the cadets for their excellent performance in various NCC discipline and Inter Directorate Competitions. He expressed deep sense of gratitude to the Odisha government for providing all possible supports in raising new NCC Battalions in rural and tribal areas of the state thus meeting the much needed aspiration of students from the region.

The March Past was followed by an impressive display of various activities by Army, Navy & Air Wings of NCC, which included aerobatics, continuity drill and a fine demonstration on how a section of infantry undertakes surgical strike to destroy an enemy post.

The function also showcased the skills in horsemanship by way of show jumping by both boys and girls cadets of R&V Squadron. Also a folk dance show by the cadets from Sambalpur Group stole the hearts of the audience.
