Bhubaneswar: Director General National Cadet Corps, Lt Gen Vinod Vashisht, left for New Delhi today after winding up his three-day visit to Odisha.

During his visit, he reviewed the progress of NCC activities in the State and complimented the officers, Associated NCC Officers, staff and cadets for their remarkable performances in different NCC activities and excellence in various Inter Directorate Competitions at the national level.

He had a special word of praise for NCC Directorate and support being provided by the Odisha government for timely commissioning of NCC Battalions in difficult areas thus furthering the objectives of NCC and also meeting the long-pending aspirations of rural and tribal students of the state.

On the last day of his visit, Vashisht laid the foundation stone of NCC Nagar at Chandrasekharpur in the presence of Commodore Lalit Kumar Agrawalla, Deputy Director General, NCC and other officials of the Directorate.

The NCC Nagar is being constructed by CPWD, Bhubaneswar, at the cost of Rs 27 crore released by the Ministry of Defence. The land for the project has been provided by the state government. The project will include office of NCC Directorate, officers’ mess, residential quarters, CSD canteen and other office accommodation.
