Balangir: Following its success in nabbing dreaded criminal Timan Kumbhar and his 12 associates in the first phase of the Operation Clean Criminal, the district police has begun the second phase of the operation issuing non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against 10 anti-socials of Timan’s gang, including the mastermind Guruji Khirod Mishra.

Briefing media persons here today, Balangir SP Dipak Kumar said the police is on the hunt for Khirod Mishra, the mastermind of the gang.

“Though a teacher by profession, his main activity was to take possession of government land. As per information we have, Khirod has constructed several houses on government land and encroached a portion of the land belonging to a school and has constructed a boundary wall on it. Municipal and the Revenue officials have already measured the encroached land in the presence of the police and will evict the unauthorised occupants very soon,” he said.

The SP said Khirod and the nine anti-socials of the Timan gang are trying everything they can to conceal their whereabouts. The police, therefore, has obtained the permission of the court and issued NBWs against them.

"We will try to execute the NBW. If police fails to arrest them through NBW, it will declare them as proclaimed offenders and appeal to the court to attach their properties under section 82, and 83 of CrPC,' the SP said.
