Nayagarh: Bus falls into Mahanadi; 12 injured

Nayagarh: As many as 12 persons were injured when a bus veered off road and fell into the Mahanadi river near Dankarisahi under Gania block of Nayagarh district this morning.

All the injured were admitted to the Gania hospital following the accident. Out of the injured, five were later shifted to the Nayagarh district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.

According to sources, the mini bus – Maa Mahalaxmi – was on its way towards Kurala from Chhamundia carrying 20 persons on board. Following a mechanical glitch in which the axle of the bus broke, it went out of control and fell into the Mahanadi river.

The bus was partially submerged in water after the plunge.
