Bhubaneswar: Urging the Centre to facilitate the early construction of the proposed National Institute of New Energy and Innovation in the state capital, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today shot off a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention in the issue.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) had decided to set up a National Institute of New Energy and Innovation in Odisha to promote research and innovation in the renewable energy (RE) sector.

In the letter, Naveen stated, “Odisha had taken several steps in accordance with the National Development Goals in the RE sector. The State Government has already allotted 73.86 acres of land for free near IIT, Bhubaneswar. However, MNRE is yet to take possession of the land and start construction of the building.”
