Bhubaneswar: Launching a scathing attack on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government, BJP on Sunday alleged that the State Government is embroiled in large-scale corruption.
Speaking to Media, senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi said, "The Naveen government immersed in corruption is ruling in Odisha for the last 20 years. But it is surprising that the people of Odisha are tolerating such a corrupt government since years."
Holding himself and his party responsible for it, Sarangi alleged that the BJD Government has been able to rule the State for long by misleading its people as the BJP has failed to provide an alternative.
In reaction to Sarangi's remarks, BJP general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said Sarangi's statement is his personal opinion. BJP is the only alternative political party that has prepared itself to stand against the Government, he added.
"It's his personal opinion. BJP will take over BJD in the upcoming 2019 elections and form a new government in Odisha. If the people of Odisha had not made up their mind to choose BJP, the party would not have achieved good results in the Panchayat polls. BJP is the only alternative party against the BJD," said Harichandan.
No reaction on the allegations has been obtained from the BJD yet.
