Bhubaneswar: Following the recently held panchayat polls across the State, Chief Minister and BJD party supremo Naveen Patnaik today met the party elected representatives of local bodies in Koraput and Jajpur districts at the ruling party’s State headquarters office in Bhubaneswar for the first time.

Informing about the meeting, Naveen told newsmen, “The panchayat raj representatives presented various suggestions that they want to be fulfilled. I have also asked them to work honestly and hard for the people. We will meet again after six months to review the situation.”

Among other, local legislators and MPs were present along with the elected representatives of local bodies in the meeting.

BJD leader Surya Narayan Patro stated, the party chief will pay surprise panchayat visits in coming days as well to assess the ground situation.

Dharmasala MLA Pranab Kumar Balabantara said, "The elected panchayat raj representatives were asked to ensure the government programmes reach the rural areas. Besides, they are directed to strengthen party organisation in their areas as well."

Dasarathpur block chairman Sujata Sahu, who was present in the meeting with the party chief, said, "We are always with the people and working for their upliftment."
