Bhubaneswar: As part of the Bharat Parv' celebrations, the Indian Navy organized a Naval Band
Concert of Military Music with its team of 40 skilled musician sailors at Utkal Mandap
in the city here on Tuesday.

The event, hosted by Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command, was graced by Governor Dr SC Jamir as the chief guest.

The function was also attended by senior officials from Central and State Government, Judiciary, Police and other prominent dignitaries.

The program was aimed at acquainting the music-loving public of Bhubaneswar with the professional capabilities of the personnel of the Naval Band.

The one-hour performance was complete with scores that showcased the prowess of the naval musicians who performed a wide genre of music that catered to the musical tastes of all present in the audience.

In keeping with the military pageantry and revelry, the concert commenced with a powerful 'Fanfare' followed by scores of genres ranging from the classical, light classical, Hindi Pop music and Carnatic fusion.

The performance ended with a score entitled the “Tri Services Marching Medley' comprising the signature marching tunes of the Indian Armed Forces and finally blending to popular and evergreen song 'Sare Jahan Se Accha", providing a fitting finale to the evening's performance and proving that versatility is indeed the hallmark of the Indian Naval band.

Under the baton of their present Band Director, Commander Satish K Champion, the ensemble relates closely to the mass audience of our country with their wide ranging repertoire making every effort to incorporate the different forms and texture of music of the area of performance.
