Bhubaneswar: A day after shunning the VVIP culture of using red light beacon and police escort, leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly Narasingh Mishra on Friday resigned from Business Advisory Committee of the House.
Sources said, Mishra informed this to the House secretary in writing.
When asked by newsmen about his decision, the Loisingha legislator alleged that the Opposition party was not getting due importance in the House.
“The Opposition party is not getting the importance in the august House the way it should. Besides, the autocracy of the ruling party is intolerable,” Mishra noted.
The septuagenarian alleged that the ruling party is not implementing the decision taken in an All Party Meeting.
“In the House, very often we see the treasury bench’s reverse opinion of a unanimous decision taken in an All-party Meeting,” he noted.
On Thursday Mishra declined to use red light beacon and police escort henceforth. Mishra, who had been using the facilities since last 3 years, however said he will continue to keep the personal security officer (PSO) attached for his security by the State government.
