Nalco’s CPP transformer gutted in fire mishap

Angul: A major fire was reported at Captive Power Plant (CPP) of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna company, here on Tuesday, causing extensive damage.

According to reports, the transformer of the CPP has been completely damaged in the fire that broke out around 2 pm today. The cost of the generator transformer is estimated to be around Rs 15 crore

Though the exact cause of the fire is still not clear, it is suspected that the transformer caught fire due to ‘excess heating’ or any other technical glitch.

The blaze was brought to control by four teams of fire tenders of NALCO’s own fire fighting service that were pressed into action following the mishap.
