Mystery surrounds death of pigs, dogs in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: At least 100 pigs and some dogs have died at Badigata village in Kalimela block of the district in the last three days under mysterious circumstances.

According to sources, the pigs fall ill all of a sudden while roaming outside and die within a few hours.

A scientific team from Bhubaneswar has reached the village to find out the possible reasons behind the deaths. The team is collecting the blood samples of the pigs and dogs and examining it.

It may be mentioned that Japanese Encephalitis had spread in the Kalimela block in the same time last year. The death of dogs and pigs after one year has spread panic in the area.
