Keonjhar: The mystery behind the killing of sheep deepened with two more sheep deaths reported from Kasia village under Jhumpura block of Keonjhar district today.

According to reports, the unidentified animal reportedly killed two sheep and injured three others.  The sheep belonged to a villager identified as Sidhu Munda.

Following the incident, Revenue Inspector of Malda, Veterinary Doctor of Jhumpura and Bamebari Forester reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

"A hyena-like animal has killed two sheep of Sidhu Munda. During post-mortem I found the livers of the sheep are missing. Three other injured sheep are presently undergoing treatment," said veterinary doctor Sukant Kumar.

"An unidentified animal seems to have attacked the sheep in Kasia village last night. It attacked five sheep, of which two are dead and three others have been injured. I will inform the matter to higher authorities and the farmer will get compensation as applicable," said Revenue Inspector of Malda, Anita Rani Mahant.
