Bhubaneswar: A multi-purpose recreational harbor at Satpada in Chilika lake has been made operational by Odisha Government as part its ongoing efforts to boost tourism.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had inaugurated the recreational harbor through video-conferencing at Bhubaneswar yesterday.

Official sources said that, the multi-purpose facility has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 19 crore and can berth 200 boats at a time.

The harbour comprises of one main jetty and approach jetty each and 20 finger jetties.

The new facility is expected to act as a major boost to tourism and enhance connectivity in Chilika lake. Besides, it is also likely to generate more employment opportunities for people of nearby areas.

Odisha government is also starting Sahid Baji Rout Naujatra Surakhya Yojna for the security of tourists while the boat riders will be provided with life jacket, fire extinguishers in boat and other safety parameters will be strictly followed.
