Bhubaneswar: Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda today reviewed the progress of the ongoing Haridaspur-Paradip railway project in Kendrapara district.

Sources said, the 82-km long railway line project is going at the desired pace along with completion of the land acquisition and construction of railway overbridges (ROBs) over river Mahanadi.

The project was approved in 1995, almost 22 years ago and has since faced many hurdles resulting in incompletion till date.

Howewer, after Baijayant Panda was elected, he has been in constant communication with the Central and State Governments to expedite the completion of the much-awaited railway project, which had remained static for years.

The total cost of the rail project, the first in the district, has been estimated at Rs 2240 crore, sources added.
