Cuttack: Intensifying its probe into SCB Medical doctor Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak's house loot, the Commisionerate Police has been able to achieve breakthrough in nabbing the miscreants involved in the incident.

During a press conference today, the Commisionerate Police revealed that Nayak's domestic servant, a lady, was behind the loot. The lady, along with her son had hatched plans to loot the medico's house and was successful in executing the heist. They looted more than Rs 31 lakh cash from the house of the doctor.

Nayak, while talking to reporters said, “They both knew that there was no CCTV in the house. She coordinated everything with her son by a phone and disposed of all the money from one corner of the terrace.”

Asked about the money he had kept in the house, Nayak said, “Because my daughter’s medical admission was nearing, we had collected and kept the cash in our house. The money also included hospital cash that we saved without depositing, only for admission purpose.”

Meanwhile, police have arrested the mother-son duo and recovered all the loot items including ornaments, Rs 30 lakh cash, electrical appliances and other valuables from them.

"One bracelet, a gold chain, and several other ornaments have been recovered. Three mobile phones and an electronic locker have also been seized from their possession. As per the findings after investigation, it is revealed that the doctor has his source of income. He had kept the money for his daughter's admission in medical college. We have also verified the admission date, and that is why such a big amount was stored in the house," said Nimai Sethi, Cuttack Zone-4 SP.
