Dhenkanal/Jharsuguda: More than Rs 60 lakh are looted from two different banks located in Odisha on Thursday.

Total Rs 10 lakh cash were looted by four miscreants from UCO bank, Dhalapur branch, in Dhenkanal district at gun point.

Sources said the four miscreants entered the bank and terrorise the bank officials and fled in two motorcycles along with Rs 10 lakh cash.

Police reached the spot and recovered Rs 1 lakh from outside the bank which is suspected to be thrown by the miscreants.

In another bank robbery case, a gang of armed dacoits looted cash worth over Rs 50 lakh from the Bank of India’s Beheramal branch this morning.

According to reports, 10-12 dacoits with masks on their face arrived at the bank in a vehicle, went inside, overpowered the in-charge branch manager and the customers at gunpoint and locked them inside a room. Before fleeing the area in a huff, they collected cash worth over Rs 50 lakh from the cash counter and the bank’s strong room.

Following information, a police team led by the district Superintendent of Police rushed to the bank for an on-the-spot investigation.

Police suspect that the dacoits belong to the neighbouring Jharkhand as they were talking in Hindi.

Police has begun a manhunt to nab the dacoits by sealing all entry and exit points in the district.
