Bhubaneswar: To ensure full-proof security at the Puri Jagannath temple, the State police is mulling over installation of more door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) on the premises of the 12th century shrine, stated DGP RP Sharma today.

Talking to media persons Sharma informed, "Frisking of visitors is the priority from security point of view, but at the same time we have to ensure it does not create any inconvenience to them."

"As large number of visitors flock to the shrine, peripheral security becomes a challenge," he said, adding that further steps will be taken after studying the issues.

In August, a three-member team of the National Security Guard (NSG) reached Puri and conducted a security review of the shrine including Anand Bazaar and held talks with the officials of temple administration and police.

Sources said the Union Home Ministry, the Odisha police and intelligence agencies have decided to prepare a joint action plan in order to strengthen the security arrangements in the shrine.
