More forces to be deployed in Naxal-infested pockets: Odisha DGP

Bhubaneswar: Adequate deployment of security forces will be made and more camps will be set up as part of a comprehensive strategy to combat left wing extremists in Odisha, said Director General of Police RP Sharma.

During his maiden visit to Naxal-infested Malkangiri district after assuming charge as DGP, Sharma today hinted of massive joint combing operations against the ultras in cut-off areas of the district.

While visiting the BSF camp at Badapada, a cut-off area of Malkangiri, Sharma emphasized on the proper co-ordination between Central Forces and State Police in the mission to combat Maoists.

Later, Sharma also inspected the site of the Gurupriya Bridge and asked the authorities to beef up security measures to ensure its completion.
