Bhubaneswar: Hitting out at the State Commission for Women (SCW) for its ‘pro-VIP’ style of functioning in the much hyped moral turpitude case against senior IAS officer Taradatt, Indulata Das, wife of the senior bureaucrat, today lambasted current chairperson of the commission Lopamudra Buxipatra for her biased style of working.
Apprising chief minister Naveen Patnaik about the response of the commission to her complaint, Das stated “the Commission is no more a Mahila Commission but has been transformed into a VIP Commission”.
“Taradatt is going to retire on 30th, June. The Commission is deliberately prolonging the case to give him a long rope; so that he would retire from the service without facing any trouble”, Indulata said quoting from her letter.
"Even though I had filed my complaint in December 2014, the commission has not made any headway in the investigation. It is not functioning without fear or favour. I think she (chairperson) is working under pressure of VIPs”, Das alleged.
When asked whether the current chairperson of the SCW should be ousted, she said indirectly, "There is a need for a Mahila commission, but the officials of the commission should function properly. I think a powerful woman should be given the responsibility of chairperson”.
Responding to the allegation made by Das, Commission chairperson Lopamudra Buxipatra said she had done what she could within the limits of the law.
" I have done what I could within the limits of rules. I have never gone beyond it”, Buxipatra said.
Das had filed a case against with the SCW suspecting her husband to be having an extra-marital affair. She had also filed a written complaint with the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell on December 5, 2014 alleging mental and physical torture by her husband and had sought police security fearing threat to her life.
