Bhubaneswar: Coastal districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in next 24 hours under the influence of cyclonic storm ‘Mora’ currently 590 km away from the Paradip coast, as per the Regional Meteorological Centre here today.

Rains will lash Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts as the cyclonic storm ‘Mora' is moving in northeast direction towards Bangladesh at 13 km per hour, informed the Met Centre’s director Sarat Chandra Sahu adding that pre-monsoon showers will continue in the State till May 30.

He further predicted the ‘Mora’ will intensify into a severe cyclonic storm and make landfall in Bangladesh coast tomorrow.

Warning signal no 2 has been issued at Paradip and Gopalpur ports in view of the cyclone. Fishermen have also been cautioned against venturing into the sea.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the southwest monsoon is likely to hit Kerala on May 30.
