Puri: As part of the preparation for the ensuing monsoon season, a team of senior officials from the Water Resources Department reviewed condition of the embankments of Daya river in Astarang of Puri district today.

The team led by the local MLA visited Mahadebabasta, Patharapaka, Bauriakan, Sathiebati and Aasana and reviewed condition of the river embankments in these areas as the embankments usually become weak due to sand erosion.

The team also reviewed the four under-construction spurs along with some old old spurs and stone packing work on the river. Besides, a proposal would be given for strengthening of 23-kilometre-long river embankment from Sikharghata to Aasan and widening of the road, said the local MLA.
