Bhubaneswar: Odisha has so far received ten percent deficit rainfall this monsoon, a report from the office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) said.
Sources said as many as 18 districts of the state have been affected by scanty rain this monsoon with Dhenkanal bearing the brunt more than any other districts.
Records said Dhenkanal has registered 46 percent deficit rainfall this season while Jajpur has 42 percent less rainfall and Balasore recorded 43 percent less precipitation this season.
Similarly, in Bhadrak 42 percent deficit rainfall has been recorded while Cuttack registered 38 percent, Kendrapara with 32 per cent of rainfall.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has said that the ten percent average shortfall this season was recorded from June 1 till now. It said most of the coastal and its adjoining districts have been affected more than others.
“We are looking into details of the rainfall statistics and hope that by July end we will be able to ascertain the overall status. The drought cell is aware of the situation,” SRC Bishnupada Sethi told OTV.
