Bhubaneswar: The urge to take a selfie proved to be the undoing of a mobile phone thief in Bhubaneswar after his photograph was inadvertently posted on Facebook.

As per sources, the incident occurred on July 5, when one Ramesh Nayak left his phone in his room with door left open. When Ramesh went to the bathroom, the thief entered the room and stole his mobile and wallet.

However, the thief went on to click multiple selfies on the phone one of which got uploaded onto Ramesh’s Facebook account which was logged-on on the phone.

After Ramesh discovered the photo post, he immediately lodged a complaint with Saheed Nagar Police, which has begun a hunt for the man in the photograph. Police sources say they will apprehend the thief soon.

“The thief had posted one of his photographs on my facebook id. After seeing the photograph I came to know of the thief as no one else has any access to my account,” said Ramesh.

“The photo has been shown at various places and we are in the process of identifying the accused,” said IIC of Sahid Nagar Police station, Kishore Chandra Mund.
