Cuttack: A day after a video circulated in media showing chit-fund scam accused Subhankar Nayak watching the India vs Sri Lanka T20 match at the VIP gallery at Barabati Stadium, BJD legislator from Cuttack-Barabati Debasish Samantray today demanded a thorough probe to find out how an accused got a VIP pass.

Talking to mediapersons, Samantray said, "Usually the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) issues pass for seats in BCCI box of the stadium. The list available with OCA can tell who have got passes and a probe will find out how the chit fund scam accused got the pass."

Samantray further said, someone who received pass from the OCA must have handed it over to Subhankar.

The chit fund scam accused was seen among top VIPs in the BCCI Box of Barabati Stadium during India-Sri Lanka T20 match on December 20.

The BCCI Box is reserved for top class officers, ministers, sports persons and OCA members and only those with VVIP passes are allowed to sit here.

Earlier, OCA had refuted providing pass to Subhankar. “Top bureaucrats, IPS officers, eminent sports personalities and OCA officials are generally given the BCCI Box pass. We don’t know who Subhankar Nayak is. He might have collected the pass from a top class official to whom we provided the same,” OCA Working Committee Chairman Dhiren Palai had said.

Subhankar, who was arrested by CBI on November 18, 2014 for his alleged links with Seashore Group, was granted conditional bail by High Court in August 2017. It was alleged that he acted as a middleman between the Seashore Group and influential persons in the State. His diary had also mentioned names of some top class bureaucrats during the raids by CBI.
