Bargarh: Even though the Election Commission is yet to announce the date for the Bijepur by-election, the BJD has started campaigning in the area. Bijepur BJD candidate Rita Sahu, wife of late Subal Sahu, joined the election campaign on Thursday.

Textiles and Handlooms Minister Snehangini Chhuria has shouldered the task of campaigning for BJD in the area.

Rita and her younger son Sourav visited Khemesara village during the campaign where they were greeted by the villagers. She attended a meeting in the village and requested the people to vote for BJD to fulfil the dream of her late husband.

"Scores of people have attended the meeting and all in one voice want Rita Sahu to be elected as MLA of Bijepur in a hope that she will fulfil the dream of her late husband Subal Sahu. I am happy to see such an environment and will surely say that BJD is going to win here," said Chhuria

Later in the day, Rita visited Tingipali and Mirdhapali villages in the constituency in a bid to win voters.

"The villagers are supporting me and I will fulfil the dream of my husband and complete all the development works for our panchayat and Bijepur constituency," said Rita.
