Missing Tumpei Post office employee found dead in Panasia forest

Dhenkanal: In a shocking incident, the missing employee of the Tumpei post office who went missing on May 12 was found dead near the Panasia forest in Dhenkanal district on Tuesday.

As per reports, police had earlier detained the deceased, identified as Bhagaban Singh, on May 12 on the basis of a complaint filed by a woman of Dangapal village. Since then, Singh had been missing.

Irate over the mysterious death of Singh after missing for 18 days, locals today staged protest in front of the Mahabiroad police outpost here and blocked the Mahabiroad-Parajanga highway affecting the vehicular movement in the region.

Tension still prevails in the area as the locals suspect Singh being a victim of a "police conspiracy".

Additional superintendent of police Harekrushna Pradhan said a case has been registered as per the complaint of the locals. “The body has been sent for post mortem. We will carry out further investigation into the case as per the report,” added Pradhan.
