Miscreants open fire, loot biker in Cuttack

Cuttack: Two unidentified miscreants opened fire at a biker and looted him near Athagarh on Saturday. The victim has been identified as Balaram Behera of Kaijanga under Biridi police limits in Jagatsinghpur district.

The incident occurred when Behera, who works at a private firm in Narsinghpur block, was returning home in Jagatsinghpur after his duty.

According to reports, two motorcycle borne miscreants intercepted him, opened fired, snatched away a bag from him and fled away from the spot.

After Hearing the gun shots, locals rushed to the spot and rescued Behera who sustained bullet injuries on his right arm. Later, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical condition, said police.

Athagarh police have started investigation into the case. "A case has been registered and probe is on," said a police official adding that the exact amount looted from the victim is yet to be ascertained.
