Miscreants loot Rs 3 lakh from collection agent

Balasore: In a daring robbery, three unidentified miscreants opened fire at a collection agent of a medicine company and looted Rs 3 lakh from him at Tarini square here on Friday night.

According to sources, the incident took place on Friday night when Rasabihari Mohapatra was returning to Balasore from Simulia.

The three unidentified goons opened fire at him and tried to loot the cash. But fortunately for Mohapatra, the bullet missed the target. The miscreants then thrashed him mercilessly and decamped with the cash, the sources added.

“The miscreants targeted my head with a pistol and tried to loot the bag in which I had Rs 3 to 4 lakh cash. I attempted to snatch the gun from them. During the tussle they fired at me but fortunately the bullet missed me,” Mohapatra said.

Following the incident, the injured Mohapatra was rushed to Simulia hospital.
