Cuttack: Throwing up a challenge for Commissionerate police, unidentified miscreants looted cash over Rs 9 lakh from Bank of India (BOI) branch at Nayasarak here on Tuesday.

According to reports, four miscreants had entered the branch at around 12:30 pm while two of them managed to sneak into the cashier’s counter and decamped with the cash bag.

The matter came to light after the bank authorities detected a shortfall of cash during recounting as per the transactions made during the day. The exact amount of loot is yet to be divulged by the authorities.

The visuals of the loot is said to have been recorded in the CCTV cameras installed inside the bank.

Lalbag police on the other hand started a probe after Bank officials lodged a complaint in connection with the incident.

Senior police officials suspect the involvement of ‘Eraloga’ gang behind such loot incident. However, further investigation has started into the incident.
