Minor raped, impregnated by school cook in Malkangiri, accused held

Malkangiri: A Class six student of a residential school at Potrel under Kalimela police station in the district got pregnant after allegedly being raped by the school cook a few months ago.

The accused identified as Parsuram Padiami was arrested following a complaint lodged by school authorities. Police also conducted medical examination of the girl and the accused.

"A case has been registered under Section 376 of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act)," Kalimela police IIC Sumitra Jena said.

Padiami allegedly raped her in the school in December last year. He had also forced the girl to have sex with him multiple times, Jena added.

The girl left hostel after the incident and narrated the ordeal to her family. Her parents informed the matter to school staff after medical examinations proved her pregnant, the IIC added.

School authorities lodged a complaint at Kalimela police station regarding the matter. "We informed the matter to the DEO who directed us to lodge a police complaint," headmaster of the school Abhay Mohanty said.
