Minor rape survivor opposes marriage of accused to another girl

Kandhamal: A minor girl, who was allegedly abducted and raped by a youth in 2017, has sought legal support to stall marriage of the accused alleging how he can marry someone else after destroying her life and while the matter is sub judice.

Earlier in June last year, the minor girl of Khajuripada village in Kandhamal district had been lured with empty promises by the youth and taken to Bhubaneswar. Both stayed together for nearly three months during which they established physical relationship.

Later, the youth dumped her following which the girl lodged an abduction and rape complaint at Khajuripada police station. The case is presently sub judice before Phulbani POCSO court and the accused is out on bail.

Meanwhile, the minor girl alleged the youth's family members are planning to marry him to another girl and demanded to stall the marriage.

"He ruined my life. He deceived me with false promises and lived with me for three months. Now his family members have arranged his marriage when he is out on bail. His marriage should be cancelled and he should live with me," said the girl.

The girl's father also demanded that the marriage should be cancelled and requested that the court should deliver justice soon. Mother of the minor girl also sought cancellation of the marriage and said that the accused should only marry her daughter after finalisation of the  court case.
