Dhenkanal: A minor girl was allegedly thrashed and injured by an Excise official during a raid at Baisinga village in Kamakshyanagar block of Dhenkanal district. As per sources, the Excise Department had conducted a raid on the house of one Bijay Behera on charges of hoarding liquor.

It has been alleged that the officials thrashed Bijay's wife Gitanjali and his 14-year-old daughter during the raid. The minor girl has been admitted at Kamakshyanagar hospital as she sustained severe injuries on her face and various parts of the body, informed sources.

While the family had appealed for justice at a public hearing conducted by the District Collector at Kankadahad block, no action has been taken against the perpetrator till date.

Meanwhile, the Dalit Sangha has demanded that the government should take stringent action against the concerned official and bear the treatment cost of the minor girl. On the other hand, the Excise Department is silent on the issue.

"The family had lodged a complaint but it seems police have not taken any step in this regard and the girl is also not being provided adequate treatment in the hospital," said President of Dalit Sangha, Arun Mallick.
