Minor girl sexually assaulted in Soro

Balasore: Police today arrested a youth for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl at Teliaganj village near Soro in Balasore on Sunday evening.

The matter came to light after the mother of the victim lodged a complaint at Soro Police Station this morning where she alleged that the accused, identified as Sheikh Tiku, showed obscene videos to her daughter and sexually abused her.

According to sources, the accused was known to the minor's family and visited the house when the girl was alone at home.

However, the girl raised an alarm and was rescued by the neighbours, said sources. The accused, who managed to escape from the spot, was later nabbed by the police near Kajimahal village.

“We have arrested the accused, Sheikh Tiku and the girl has been sent for medical examination. Interrogation of the accused is on to elicit more information,” said a senior official of Soro Police Station.

Earlier in the day, Kendrapara police arrested a man for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in Rajkanika area of the district on April 24. The matter came to fore after parents of the survivor lodged an FIR at Rajkanika Police Station.
