Minor girl sexually assaulted in Cuttack

Cuttack: A minor girl studying in Class 4th was allegedly sexually assaulted yesterday by a youth under Darghabazaar police limits in Cuttack.

The matter came to light after a written complaint was filed by the Childline and family members of the victim at the police station against the accused, who also happens to be a neighbour of the former, said sources.

"We had received a call on 1098 regarding an sexual assault on a minor. After our intervention, the accused was detained. We are trying our best to ensure that the minor gets justice. The accused will definitely get punishment for his deeds," said a Childline official Nirajalai Das.

Police have detained the accused to interrogate him.

Recently, two more cases had come to light on June 4. In Bhubaneswar, a minor girl was allegedly raped by a 60-year-old contractor under Chandrasekharpur police limits.

In the second incident, another minor girl was allegedly raped by two persons including an auto-rickshaw driver in Kandhamal district.
