Minor girl raped by relative in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: A minor girl was allegedly raped after being kidnapped by a man in Birabhanjapur village under Talchua marine police station of Kendrapara district today. The accused has been detained by the police.

As per a complaint lodged by the family of the girl, the accused, a distant relative (brother-in-law) of hers from the same village, had abducted the girl from the road after gagging her mouth with a dupatta. He took the girl to a nearby prawn gheri and raped her.

Meanwhile, the death of the Salepur minor girl rape victim has sparked political protests in Odisha. BJP Mahila Morcha has announced to hold a candle rally in all district headquarters of State today and pay tributes to the deceased child.

At least 10 girls have been raped in different parts of the State in last week and the law and order situation in State has deteriorated, the  Morcha members alleged.
