Khurda/Bhubaneswar: In yet another incident of sexual assault against minors, a minor girl was allegedly raped in Arisala village under Jatni police limits of Khurda district on Sunday.

What is more horrific is that the girl alleged that she was raped by a minor boy of the same village. As per sources, the survivor narrated the incident to her parents following which they lodged a complaint at the local police station.

Based on the complaint filed by the girl's family, police registered a case and later detained the minor boy at the station while further investigation into the incident is on, sources added.

Meanwhile, blaming the inaction of the state government, the BJP Mahila Morcha will hold a massive demonstration at the Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar today protesting the rising incidents of crime against women particularly the rape of minor girls in the state.

Sources said thousands of women from different parts of the state would join the demonstration under the leadership of state Mahila Morcha President Pravati Parida.

"Recently, a bill was passed approving death sentence to those convicted of raping minor girls. This should be immediately implemented in the state and the government should pressurise the police to take stringent action. A delegation of the Mahila Morcha comprising 11 members would submit a memorandum to the Governor in this regard. If the situation remains unchanged, then our protest will be more intensified, " said Parida.

In one such similar incident, a five-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by two minor boys in Kantaballabhapur area under Sadar police limits of Jagatsinghpur district on April 25 night. The incident occurred when the two minor boys, aged 11 and 13, allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl, who happens to be their neighbour. The girl’s mother filed a written complaint at the Sadar police station next morning following which police detained the minor duo.

Similarly on April 20, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 14-year-old boy in Mahakalpada area of Kendrapara district when she had gone to a nearby village with her family members to see the Hanuman Yajna and have food at the feast organised there. Finding her alone, the 14-year-old accused took her to an isolated place and allegedly raped her. The matter came to light after the family members could not solve it in the village and lodged a complaint at the Marsaghai police station on April 23.
