Bhubaneswar: One minor girl was killed and eight injured in different mishaps across the State during Diwali celebrations on Thursday.

A 13-year-old girl died after she fell off a house roof accidentally while lighting up crackers at Khajurikata village in Bargarh.

In Bhadrak, eight persons sustained injuries while bursting crackers. Of them two have been admitted to SCB hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition.

While one person has sustained injuries on his palms, the other person's eyes got damaged in fire sparkles of crackers.

On Thursday, four more victims of the Bahabalpur, Balasore, cracker unit explosion succumbed to injuries at the SCB hospital in Cuttack while undergoing treatment.

The deceased were identified as Ranjit Samanta, Ramapada Maiti, Nimainlal Pradhan and six-year-old Nadini Pradhan of Bahabalpur village.

Six persons, including a minor, died on the spot on Wednesday following the explosion while one breathed his last at the SCB hospital.

On the other hand, four injured in the explosion are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Following the incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased. Moreover, an assistance of Rs 50,000 and free medical treatment was announced for the injured.

In another such mishap, on Wednesday, a minor girl was killed while four others were injured critically in explosion while they were making crackers at Bilipada near Pipili in Puri district.
