Deogarh: In a fresh incident of violation of child rights, a minor girl has alleged sexual harassment by the owner of a Dhaba she was working in at Khadinali village under Barkote police station of Deogarh district.

What is more shocking is that the girl happens to be the niece of the accused.

As per the complaint lodged by the minor, Gogi Singh, the Dhaba owner used to force her to serve liquor to customers in the Dhaba. She also alleged that she was forced to get into flesh trade and the accused used to exploit her physically. Though she lodged a complaint at Barkote police station in this connection, the police didn't take any action against the accused, sources said.

Later, the minor girl met the district SP with help from International Human Rights Council and submitted a written complaint in this regard. Under the SP's direction, the Barkote police registered a case against Singh under various sections and has launched an investigation.

SP B Gangadhar said investigation is on and action will be taken against officials of the Barkote police station if allegations are proved.

International Human Rights Council president Sashmita Dash said, "The girl informed us about her plight. We helped her meet the SP, who assured us to take action against the accused."
