Berhampur: Four persons were arrested on charges of gang raping a minor girl in Jagannathprasad of Ganjam district, said police today.

The arrested persons have been sent to the MKCG Hospital for medical examination, stated Anirudha Muduli, officer In-charge of the Jagannathprasad police station.

While two accused were arrested yesterday, two others were nabbed today, police sources said.

According to sources, the minor girl had gone to the cashew orchard on the backyard of her house to attend nature’s call at around 10.30 AM on Friday. Finding her alone, a youth of the Purapalli village forcibly took her deep into the orchard and raped her. Later he called up three of his friends who took turns to rape the minor girl.

A case has been registered at the Jagannathprasad police station based on the complaint filed by the gang rape survivor, the police official informed.

“We want stricter punishment for the accused,” said Aliala, father of the gang rape survivor.
