Cuttack: In a tragic incident, a 13-year-old boy was charred to death and two rooms were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in a house in Dharmadaspur village under Mahanga block of Cuttack district late Sunday night.

As per sources, the minor boy Prakash Mishra, identified as the son of Pranab Mishra, was sleeping in the house along with his parents when the fire erupted late last night.

After discovering a thick smoke inside the rooms, Pranab and his wife managed to escape out of the house. However, Prakash apparently failed to move out as the fire spread swiftly.

Getting information, police and fire personnel rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Later the body was recovered and sent for post-mortem.

Though the actual reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the blaze. Pranab said a cattle shed adjoining a portion of his house first caught fire and gradually it engulfed his house.
