Koraput: A minor girl was allegedly gang raped by four jawans engaged in anti-Maoist operations in Koraput district on Tuesday.

Though it is still unclear whether jawans of CoBRA or BSF were behind the atrocity against the Class IX student, a high level probe is now being demanded into the incident.

According to reports, four persons suspected to be security personnel abducted the minor to a forest near Sorispadar village under Pottangi police limits and gang raped her.

"Four BSF jawans in uniform and weapons abducted and gagged her mouth and took her into the forests where they raped her. Somehow she managed to save her life and one of my aunt rescued her and admitted to hospital,” said rape survivor’s brother.

The incident occurred at around 12 noon when the girl was returning to her home after school.

The accused persons detained the victim and after touching her inappropriately, they abducted and took her inside the forest. Later they gagged her mouth with her ‘duppatta’ and raped her.

The matter came to light after a close acquaintance found the survivor lying in the forest. Later, the girl was shifted to the hospital where her condition is said to be critical.

Meanwhile, CRPF DIG (Operations) Ram Charitra has ruled out the involvement of CoBRA battalion jawans in the incident.

“After preliminary probe, we have found that no jawans of CoBRA are involved in the incident,” said Charitra.

Meanwhile, BSF officials have too denied involvement of their men in the incident.

"BSF troops are not involved in this heinous crime. The nearest BSF Company location is about 35 kms from the incident area. BSF does not operate in this area since it is quite away from our jurisdiction," said BSF in a press statement.
