Sonepur: Activists of Sonepur district unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) showed black flags to ST and SC Development Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi today as a mark of protest against acute shortage of doctors in the district headquarters hospital.

The protesters waived black flags at Nalini square when the minister was returning after chairing a meeting of State Planning Board at circuit house in the town. Five protesters were taken to custody while a handful others gathered at the spot shouting slogans and asking the minister to go back.

"Several doctor posts are lying vacant in the district hospital since long. The government has turned a blind eye to the basic amenities. People from our area and even from some parts of bordering Boudh district depend on Sonepur hospital," district BJYM president said.

"Why people have voted BJD to power? One cannot believe how patients are suffering at the hospital," he added.
