Bhubaneswar: Incessant rains have disrupted life at various places across Odisha including submerging a bridge in Udala in Mayurbhanj and collapse of a mud house in Balasore killing an infant.

Vehicular communication between Udala and Baripada in Mayurbhanj district is cut off as the Adapala bridge over Deonadi river is submerged with over two feet water flowing above it.

Following incessant rains in the areas in past two days, water level of Deonadi increased and the Adapala bridge is submerged cutting off communication on the main road between Udala and Baripada.

The water level is expected to rise further as the rains have not subsided yet.

Besides, major rivers in the area are in spate and water logging has been reported in Adapala and Sunapala areas.

Yet no district administration official has reached the spot.

Meanwhile, a one-month-old child died after a mud house wall collapsed on the baby following heavy rains in Bilparia village, Remuna, in Balasore district today.

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, forecast that heavy rains are expected in coastal and interior parts of the State in next 24 hours under the influence of a depression.

The met department further stated a low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal has turned into the depression which will cross Puri and Chandbali areas in next 24 hours. Wind speed with gusts in the coastal areas is likely to increase to 45-55 km per hour.

Cautionary signal III has been hoisted at the Paradip and Gopalpur ports.

Besides, the met has issued an advisory to fishermen cautioning them not to venture into the sea.
