Bhubaneswar: With cold wave conditions prevailing over some parts of interior Odisha, the mercury dipped further at Phulbani in Kandhamal district recording 4.6 degrees Celsius against yesterday's 4.8 degrees Celsius.

Kandhamal district became the coldest place in the state as Daringbadi, another place in the district, recorded 5.5 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said, adding the cold wave conditions would continue in the next 24 hours.

"Weather has been dry over Odisha. Minimum temperatures observed, no large change over Odisha. They were appreciably below normal over south interior Odisha, below normal over north interior Odisha and south coastal Odisha and normal over north coastal Odisha," a bulletin issued by IMD said.

The minimum temperature fell below 10 degrees Celsius in six places. They were Angul (7.5), Jharsuguda (9.7), Koraput (9.4), Sambalpur (8.1), Daringbadi (5.5) and Phulbani (4.6), the IMD said.The state capital of Bhubaneswar recorded a minimum of 13.2 degrees Celsius, it said.

The highest maximum temperature of 32.40 degrees Celsius was recorded in Malkangiri district.

“The effect of the cold wave is likely to continue for another two days following which the temperatures might rise mildly between 1-1.5 degree Celsius,” said IMD regional director, Bhubaneswar, Sarat Sahu.
