Bhubaneswar: With just three days remaining for the filing of nomination to end for Rajya Sabha polls, outgoing BJD MP Bhupinder Singh met Chief Minister and party supremo Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Nivas here on Friday fueling speculation about his possible renomination to the Upper House.

The elections to the three seats from Odisha in the upper house will be held on June 11.

The last date for filing of nomination is May 31 whereas the verification of the nomination paper would be done on June 1. The election process will conclude on June 13.

Commenting on the meeting, Shashibhusan Behera, BJD spokesperson, said, “Surely the BJD’s three candidates will be elected to the Upper House. Therefore, the focus is on BJD and its party supremo. The final decision will be taken by the party supremo at the right time and before the end of nominations filing."

He added, “There is no question of competition to become party candidate. The Chief Minister will take a decision keeping the interest of all classes and popularity of the nominees.”

Party supremo Naveen Patnaik is expected to name the three Rajya Sabha candidates this evening.
