Cuttack: Once again SCB Medical College and Hospital is in news for all the wrong reasons after a girl student of the premier state-run hospital on Monday brought sexual harassment charges against two doctors.

The victim, a second year post graduate student of the dental wing of the medical college alleged that associate professor Dr Niranjan Mishra and senior resident Krishna Gopal Birmiwal misbehaved with her and made sexual advances towards her on several occasions.

“The duo also threatened to ruin my career if I did not agree to their advances and threatened to kill me,” said the victim in her complaint lodged with Mangalabag police station.

The student, who hails from Uttarakhand, in her complaint, also alleged that the head of the department Indubhusan Kar also abused and physically assaulted her when she tried to bring the matter to his notice.

Basing on the written complaint filed by the girl student, Mangalabag police has registered a case under sections 354, 354 A, 294, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

“We have registered a case and appropriate action will be taken in connection with the incident after proper investigation,” said DCP Akhileswar Singh.
