Medical negligence takes life of one more new-born

Kendrapara: In yet another case of alleged medical negligence, a new born baby died at a private hospital in Kendrapara district here on Sunday.

According to sources, wife of Kalpataru Samal, a resident of Aadoi village under Mahakalapada Tehsil of the district complained of labour pain yesterday after which she was admitted to the Sai Hospital here.

However, a few hours after she delivered a baby, the newborn died.

Alleging medical negligence behind their child's death, the family has lodged a complaint against the private hospital at the Kendrapara Town police station.

“The on-duty doctors did not attend our child and due to their negligence our child died. My wife’s uterus has also damaged because of their negligence,” alleged Kalpataru.

The hospital authorities could not be contacted over the issue. Investigation into the matter is on, police sources said.

Bijaya Kumar Bisi, IIC Kendrapara Town Police station said," The expectant mother was brought to the hospital and she delivered a dead child after a caesarean operation. We have registered a case 105/17 under Section 304 IPC following the allegations of medical negligence."
